Pods and Bees

P1010909 We just got some pics of some interesting boards we had the pleasure of making with Malcolm Campbell last year. He came and took over the shaping room for a week and made close to 50 boards for a variety of clients in Europe. The boards then went through the factory under the guidance of Nigel, Phil and Malcolm's agent, Guy Penwarden. Daz had to get to grips with the delights of fixing and sanding Bonzer 5s and Bonzer 3s, together with a huge swath of gloss and polish. It was an interesting slug of boards and a process we enjoyed being a part of. The pic is of a 6'0 Bumble Bee and a 6'6 POD.

Where there's a Will there's a wave...

NS Surfboard Single finWill - son number 2 of Kelvin is the second lucky lad to get a new board for Christmas - similar to Nick's but 2" longer and with a hot red and yellow spray.

Lucky Nick

DSC01645 Nick's Dad has gone all out for Christmas with this 6'8" 2+1 diamond tail. It's got a rad red and black spray to go on after the hot coat has been sanded. Watch this space...

PS Nick - don't worry - your "Nick" logo is to go on over the hotcoat before the spray :)

PPS Tim says he wants a ride on it!

New factory

DSC01512 For those of you who have been wondering where the old factory went to... we are now on the Industrial Estate at St Columb next to Bunker (army surplus store)... right next to the burger van that has cause all employees to add several inches to their waistlines!

Transmullet

This is one crazy colourway designed by Newquay big-boy, Arran Martin, together with his own "Transmullet" logo that we transposed onto some laminating paper... I have no idea what the "Transmullet" thing is all about but its one hell of a board. 6'4" x 21 x 2 3/4" of finest Burford foam.

It's for a big guy for everyday surf. We are going to stick a 7" True Ames Bonzer fin on it as they tend to suit the bigger guys and wider tails better than the standard 6 1/2 inch. Nuff respect as always to Malcolm Campbell whose lifetime of making and refining Bonzers inspired both the customer and the finished board.

Test

They told me this blogging thing was easy so we have set up the Foam Asylum - aka Ocean Magic Surfboard Factory. Featured here is an unusual angle of an unusual board with a lime green/white/black resin tint on the bat-tail.
We are going to try and post a board a day, so watch out for more posts soon.
